Graphic – open door in abandoned warehouse on Labor Day

Labor Day – Sep ’16

Last Labor day I walked around Gloucester with an intention to take pictures. I had no expectations of getting real excited with what I’d see. I’ve been there many times; seen the harbor, the shops, the restaurants, and the inside of a few bars. Unlike people there to photograph the tall ships visiting the harbor, I walked along the docks where the locals make a living.

To see as a traveler, not a tourist.

It wasn’t my intention to photograph the scenes a tourist sees. But I too am influenced by stuff that one doesn’t see every day. Gotta love environs where the tides turn, boats go out to sea and back, working people on the docks come and go. It’s a constantly changing place.  But this was Labor day, apparently a fisherman’s day off – and a good opportunity for the ‘trespassing photographer’ to go about the business of photography without being hindered.
